Arrieros Mexican Food
About This Spot
Stepping into Arrieros Mexican Food on Benbrook Boulevard feels like entering a quietly cherished neighborhood spot where the pace slows just enough to let the flavors settle in. This modest space, with its handful of tables, hums with a gentle familiarity—part pause, part everyday ritual for locals who come seeking something genuine beyond the usual Tex-Mex bustle. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, a place where conversations flow easily, often weaving in little celebrations of homemade touches and traditional recipes that linger in the memory.
Here, the food is an extension of that sincerity. The kitchen respects its roots, serving dishes that speak in authentic voices—corn tortillas made in-house, hearty bowls of pozole that invite you to savor each spoonful slowly, and breakfast flavors that linger with the hint of early mornings much like those found in Mexican homes. Every meal feels like a discovery, whether it’s the subtle earthiness of cactus paired with cheese or the comforting warmth of hearty stews and tacos that aren’t rushed but savored. There’s an unspoken understanding that these plates carry stories, ingredients passed down and prepared with care, not just flashed out to fill plates quickly.
Service here reflects the same thoughtful rhythm. While it might not be brisk in the way fast food often demands, it suits the setting perfectly—attentive and friendly, part of the welcoming fabric rather than a mere transactional gesture. Guests appreciate the space to simply be, to enjoy a meal that invites you to slow down and taste the honest textures of Mexican cooking away from the noise.
Arrieros offers more than a meal; it’s a quiet reminder of the rich culinary traditions found in everyday places. It’s where you come not just to eat, but to connect—with the food, the people, and a style of hospitality that honors time-tested flavors and heartfelt welcoming in equal measure.

Amazing ACTUAL Mexican food. So tired of Tex-Max being called “Mexican” food. The “beef with cactus and cheese” was a so good, if a bit salty. Homemade corn tortillas, fresh salsa, nice staff. If you doubt the authenticity, check that the menu is in Mexican Spanish. Beware, service is “slow” for the American idea of Mexican food.

We frequent this restaurant and love the food, the coffee, the corn tortillas are unique and amazing all by themselves. Staff is always super attentive. I love the chile relleno with beef and the huevos rancheros.

A little spot in Benbrook, with maybe 10-12 tables. Standard fare of tacos, enchiladas and burritos. The staff is accommodating and very friendly and food comes out pretty quickly. I usually get the taco plate with 3 tacos, rice and beans. At $7.99 it's hard to beat. I liked the salsa but wish they had a spicier option. Please support independently owned restaurants. Then pickup some meat from the carniceria next door cabrón!

The sopes we're really good. I asked for a chicharrón and a papas con chorizo sope. I think they are a little pricey but it's very difficult to find Mexican food this authentic anywhere nearby, so it's worth it IMO. Great food friendly staff. Plus you can order online for pickup.
